A Layout

Happy Thursday! No new Vinnie Pearce collections yet, but I was in the mood for some Vinnie, so I decided to try another digi layout. My dad took the sweetest photos of my girl dancing with bubbles and I had to use them:

I used various elements from different kits that are available here.

Hope your day is beautiful! Thanks for visiting!

Vanessa

Make it Mondays - Polariod 2-Step Masking

Happy Tuesday! There's another great technique video up on Nichole's blog! This time the technique is called Polariod 2-Step Masking. And Nichole's sample is gorgeous! I had to try this technique. So this is what I just made during nap-time:

I inked my heart out. The pink background started with a piece of cream cardstock. The roses are colored with distress inks that I spritzed with a mixture of perfect pearls and water, so there is a subtle shine on them:

Again I had so much fun using this technique! If you'd like to see the video, just go
here.

Thanks for visiting and have a beautiful day!

Hugs,
Vanessa

Papertrey Ink June Blog Hop Challenge

Hi again! I am back with a card for today's

Ok. First I thought "Easy!". Then it took me hours to come up with a (not so satisfying) card inspired by this:

I struggled so much! I wanted to use all the colors, but couldn't make them work. Then I wanted to include some tulle - but you'll see that you can almost NOT see it. Well, I didn't want to give up after spending so much time on this and ended up reducing the colors to the pinks/reds and using the striped design:

I trimmed the patterned paper strips regarding the pattern to not interrupt it. Oh, and the tulle is on top - that ruffled border.
Phew. Not easy. Really can't wait to see what creative people made of this inspiration photo!

Happy hopping and thanks for visiting!

Hugs,
Vanessa

Card Patterns Sketch 121- Hello

Happy Saturday! This week, Card Patterns is sponsored by Whimsie Doodles. When I looked at Nina's Sketch and then at the digis we were given to work with, I couldn't help but see this:

A fish-bowl on a table that is decorated with a nice tablecloth! This card has not turned out exactly the way I wanted it to, I imagined it much better! But ok. I would choose clear cardstock for the water next time. Here is a shot of the little fish:

Oh, my. I guess this was my last card for the Card Patterns DT term. Sigh. Don't want it to end! I really enjoyed being on this team!!! Those ladies are the sweetest! Please come over and join us, I'd love to see your take on this!

Thanks for stopping by and have a happy day!

Make it Mondays - Reversed Masking

Happy Tuesday! Last night, in the midst of our building site, I made a card using the reversed masking technique from this week's Make it Mondays video. Here it is:

On the blossoms I just used the coordinating die to create my mask, I love how they look like they were made from fabric now. On the leaves I hand-cut my mask:

Such a great technique to change the look of your stamps! Check out the video here.

Have a beautiful day and thanks for visiting!

Make it Mondays - Rock'n Roll!

Happy Sunday! Ha, I got crafty this morning! My parents are spending the day with my little girl, my husband is with his friend and me - well, I really wanted to do some cleaning here, but my stamps distracted me too much... So, I thought I'd make a last minute card for this week's Make it Mondays challenge:

Rock'n Roll! Fun fun. I like to use Distress Inks for this technique and I like to mist the stamp before stamping to make the colors blend better. This new Garden Variety stamp set is becoming my new favorite! LOVE everything about it! Here is a close-up:

Oh, and are you wondering about that green heart? I just took a die-cut from the Love Lives Here set to use as a mask:

Off to have some more fun!

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!

Hugs,
Vanessa

Make it Mondays - Tissue Paper

Happy Sunday! Last night I was playing around (much too long, I am paying for it right now..) and in the end made a card for the PTI Make it Mondays challenge. That technique cost me some nerves - somehow my tissue paper kept tearing and when I ran it through my Cuttlebug I ended up with a mess. It even haunted me in my dreams tonight because Betsy (she was not haunting, she was lovely!!) came over and tried to explain the technique to me again :)
Here is what I was able to save from my feeble tries:

I started with a piece of cream cardstock that I stamped with different images of the Life set (or Larger than Life, I am not sure). Then I did that tissue thing and stamped the sentiment afterwards.

I really love the look of this, so I won't give up yet and will try this again...

I hope your day is sunny and bright! It is here after a week of rain again, so I am looking forward to a day in the garden with my family and some friends! Thanks for visiting me and have a beautiful Sunday!

Hugs,
Vanessa

Cardstock, Green PP, Stamps, ribbon, button, plum pudding ink: Papertrey Ink

Congratulations

Happy Monday! It's back it's back! Paper Crafts' Gallery Idol, that is. And this year internationals are allowed again! Yay! I have to try out, it was through the Gallery Idol 2009 contest that I heard about Paper Crafts for the first time and started submitting to the magazine. And now? I am addicted! So here is a first card for the open auditions:

I stamped and heat-embossed the Hero Arts Large Blossom Cling using white embossing powder. Then I used distress inks spritzed with water and perfect pearls to color the image softly. It has a pretty, subtle shine irl:

Oh, and the card fits this month's Hero Arts Challenge, too! So, off to make more cards :)

Thank you so much for visiting and have a beautiful day! I hope yours is sunny! We had rainstorms combined with hail today. I didn't have the guts to go into the garden and look at my patches yet. Let's hope the best!

Hugs,
Vanessa

Card Patterns Sketch 118 and the WINNER!!!

Happy Saturday!! I am sorry I didn't post all week long, but my little girl caught a bad cold and she passed it on to me, too. But now we are both feeling better! Today I have a sunny card for you as well as the winner of my blogoversary giveaway (finally). First the card I made for Card Patterns' Sketch 118:

Our sponsor this week is once again the independent Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Catherine Pooler! The ribbon and paper I used on my card are SU!, the stamps are Hero Arts. I created the grass with regular scissors and just cut repeatedly until I was satisfied. To give the paper-pieced flower more depth, I colored the petals slightly with an orange pencil.

I hope you'll join us this week over at Card Patterns! Find everything about this week's sketch here.

And now to the long due announcement of my giveaway winner! Here is what random.org chose:

And here is my lucky winner:

Congratulations sweet Barb!!! Please drop me an email with your address - I will try to take a photo of your goodies before sending them!

Thanks to everybody who entered the giveaway and especially for your sweet comments! I will work on them, as well as on some other comments and questions I got on other posts and will answer everything soon!

Thank you so much for visiting and have a beautiful day!

Hugs,
Vanessa
